JOHN LEE (Konos Academy Headmaster, Director of Development, Financial Aid Administrator) Graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Brown University and Masters degree in Pastoral Divinity from the Log College at Heritage Church. John, with his wife Joanne, co-founded Grace Christian Academy, a classical Christian school in NY, and served as its principal, Bible and literature teacher until moving to Georgia in 2001. SHANNON CULL (Operations Manager) Shannon earned her B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from Indiana University in 1996. Shannon and her husband Chris graduated two boys from Konos. Shannon coordinates all operations and events at Konos.  shannon@konos.org

RENEE DELORENZO (Gradelink Administrator and Assistant) Renee and her husband Mike have served with Africa Inland Mission since 1997. They graduated their two children from Konos. Renee sees mentors and role models as strategically important in the lives of our youth, and feels privileged to serve Konos using her administrative skills.  renee@konos.org

SARAH JIMENEZ (Office manager, tuition administrator and registrar) Received her bachelor’s degree in English from Oglethorpe University. She worked at Fayetteville Public Library before coming to Konos.  She has been married to Carlos Jimenez for ten years.  Contact Sarah for tuition and billing questions. sarah@konos.org

LEAH SMITH (Accreditation and College Guidance Counselor)  Prior to returning home to Georgia in 2019, Leah focused her efforts on guiding, assisting, and coordinating seventy young women, grades K-12, as Vice-Coordinator for American Heritage Girls. She is delighted to join Konos Academy as Guidance Counselor and looks forward to helping students through the process of making excellent decisions for their future. She will coordinate dual enrollment, create and submit accredited Konos transcripts, and assist with applications for college and the HOPE Scholarship. CAROLE THAXTON (Konos Founder and Curriculum Writer) B.A. biology, M.S. counseling from Syracuse University, is 16-year homeschooling mom, teacher, counselor, co-author of the Konos Curriculum and author of Learn to Write the Novel Way, Write Your Roots, and Olympic Writing. She founded the Konos Academy Prague, an international Christian worldview secondary school, and the Konos Academy in Fayetteville, and continues to write curriculum and counsel parents.  carole@konos.org


KONOS Academy Teachers

DR. CHARLES THAXTON (KONOS founder, History teacher) received a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Iowa State University before studying and teaching at L’Abri. He completed post-doctoral work in the history of science at Harvard University and molecular biology at Brandeis University. He held a faculty position at Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic. He is co-author of The Mystery of Life’s Origin and The Soul of Science (both translated into several languages) and contributor to several books and journals. Dr. Thaxton has lectured worldwide. His specialty is issues in science/faith relationship and the history and philosophy of science. thethaxtons@aol.com

JOANNE LEE (English and Speech/debate, Drama Director) B.S. in Business Marketing from Long Island University and M.B.A. from St. John’s University, Joanne worked as an underwriting and human resources manager before she and her husband John co-founded Grace Christian Academy at Merrick, NY.  The Lees home school their five children, who are attending or who have graduated from Konos. Mrs. Lee coached Konos Communicators debate and speech (interpretive, platform, and limited prep) for eight years and has co-directed Konos productions since 2006.  joanne@konos.org

ELISE BARRETT (History)  B.S. in History from Clayton State University. Elise has two children she is currently homeschooling. She has taught a variety of history classes throughout her career. Elise volunteers at her church with the college and career class. elise@konos.org

MICAYLA CLARK (English)  After receiving a B.S. degree in Political Science from the University of West Georgia, Micayla continued her education at Georgia State University, earning an M.A. in Political Science in 2019. Micayla is currently a doctoral candidate at Georgia State in political science, where she has taught freshman American Government for a few years. She met her husband through homeschool speech and debate and they currently have a son. Writing and research have been a passion of Micayla’s since her days in high school speech and debate. These important skills are central to her doctoral research, upcoming academic articles, and published book chapter. She cannot wait to share her love of research with the high school students at Konos Academy.  micayla@konos.org

CINDY JOHNSON (English) B.S. Home Economics and M.S. in Housing/Education from Auburn University, Cindy is the mother of two children (both college graduates) whom she home-schooled for 15 years. She previously worked for the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service as a County Agent/Home Economist and at Delta Airlines before becoming a teacher at Konos Academy.  cindy@konos.org

TABI POLLARD (English)  A.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies and B.S. in Biblical Counseling from Boyce College. Tabi has loved Konos from a young age. She enjoyed completing Konos-in-a-Box in elementary school and attending Konos Juniors for 2 years. After graduating college, she spent her first year working at Konos as a Kidlets teacher assistant and English grader and tutor for the Academy. She is excited to continue working with the high school students and helping them grow as writers. tabi@konos.org

ELIZABETH FRY (Head teacher of Konos Juniors)
B.A. Journalism/Public Relations, University of Oklahoma, executive director of Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Norman, OK, newsletter editor and designer, and homeschooling mom for 13 years, has taught public speaking and journalism before joining Konos.  elizabeth@konos.org

TIFFANY McBRYDE (Teacher of Konos Juniors)
B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida, former proofreader and teacher’s aide, Bible study teacher, Children’s Choir director, Sunday school teacher, and homeschool mom for the past 9 years. Her daughter, Lauren, attended Konos Kids and the opportunity to assist parents who desire to home-educate their children with the help of Konos is a dream come true.   Tiffany is eager to help her students understand God’s sovereignty over all the earth as they study Geography and Culture together. “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it; for He founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.” Ps. 24:1-2.  tiffany@konos.org


GINA BLEDSOE (Head Teacher of Konos Kids)

SARAH FUTCH BRADSHAW (Teacher of Konos Kids)
Sarah has a BSEd in Communication Sciences and Disorders from University of Georgia and an MAT in Elementary Education from Liberty University. She is also a graduate of Konos Academy and has been an elementary teaching assistant for the past two years as well as an ASP literacy and reading comprehension coach. KONOS Kidlets

MELISSA FUTCH (Head Teacher of Konos Kidlets)
Melissa Futch is excited to be returning as the Head Teacher of Konos Kidlets for the 2021-22 school year.  Previously, Melissa taught as an assistant teacher for Konos Juniors and co-developed Preschool Praise for Carriage Lane. She has also served as a director, assistant director, choreographer, stage manager, director of hair and makeup, and drama camp teacher for Konos Academy,  drama director for Georgia Singers, and drama director for Covenant Kids.  She is a 16-year homeschool veteran. Her four children graduated from Konos. Her two eldest are college graduates, while her twins are now college juniors. Melissa considers it a great privilege to come alongside families to provide a classroom experience emphasizing loving God, loving others, academics, character development, and creativity.  mel@konos.org

ABIGAIL CAUBLE (Teacher of Konos Kidlets)
As a little girl, Abi Cauble found herself drawn to the arts – especially painting and pencil. In her free time, she found that she couldn’t stop drawing. She picked up jobs doing custom work for friends: from wall murals to portraits, she painted everything. As a teenager, she completed DiDomizio’s Old World Art Program and a whole new world of art history, charcoal, pastels and oil painting opened up to her. Along the way, she picked up photography. Now, as a homeschooling mom of three, Abi is delighted to share her love of art with her own children and other kids in the community.  abi@konos.org

AUDREY GOODMAN (Assistant for Konos Kidlets)
Audrey Goodman graduated with a B.M. in Worship and Music Leadership from Shorter University. She is currently on staff at a local church as a Worship Associate. In addition to her work at church, she has worked as an Exceptional Student Education Aide, providing remediation in foundational skills to struggling students. Audrey’s brother and sister both attended Konos, and her family is deeply grateful for the impact and memories made at this school.  audrey@konos.org

ERICA ROBINSON (Teacher of Konos Kidlets)
Erica Robinson, B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University, is a trained and eager teacher of young children. She taught for four years in public school before deciding to stay home to focus on her special needs daughter. She loves teaching and fostering a love of learning in children and is a perfect fit for the Konos Kidlets program. Erica is the Family Ministries Director at Gospel Community Church, which she attends with her husband Paul and elementary-aged daughter. erica@konos.org

KONOS Plus Teachers

MARTHA BLANCHARD (Physical Science and Physics)
B.S. in physics from the University of Texas and taught high school physics and physical science both in the public schools and for homeschoolers. She has home schooled for more than 15 years. martha@konos.org

ANDREA CALDWELL (Elementary Math 1 and 2)
Andrea was born in Bolivia but grew up in northern Virginia. She lives in Sharpsburg with her husband, Drew, whom she met while on active duty in the US Air Force, and their two teenagers, Isaiah and Bella. Andrea has a passion for education, children, and serving the Lord. She earned her B.S. in Psychology with an emphasis in Christian counseling from Liberty University. Prior to switching majors she studied Mathematics with an emphasis in Software Engineering at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Andrea is passionate about Mathematics and serves as a tutor for high school and college level students. She is blessed to homeschool her children and works in children’s ministry.

Kendra graduated from Georgia State University with a B.A. in Spanish Literature. Her love for the Spanish language and communication took her into the medical field, where she has worked for many years as an interpreter. As a homeschool graduate herself, she has had the opportunity to teach in homeschool environments as well as in virtual classrooms. She is a lifelong learner and aficionado of all things wordy.

DENISE CHRZANOWSKI (Middle School Science)
Post-Masters Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from the University of California, San Diego; Masters degree from the University of Tennessee – Memphis; Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Memphis; Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Penn State University. Denise has been working in Urgent Care as a nurse practitioner for the past 20 years, and has homeschooled four children since 2004. In addition to teaching, her lifelong interests include outreach/evangelism, horses, and children’s Bible ministry.  deniseacnp@att.net

MICAYLA CLARK (Statistics) 
After receiving a B.S. degree in Political Science from the University of West Georgia, Micayla continued her education at Georgia State University, earning an M.A. in Political Science in 2019. Micayla is currently a doctoral candidate at Georgia State in political science, where she has taught freshman American Government for a few years. She met her husband through homeschool speech and debate and they currently have a son. Statistics is an integral part of Micayla’s doctoral research, and she cannot wait to share her love of statistics with the high school students at Konos Academy.

Early in life, JoDette discovered a passion in art by drawing everything she could get her hands on. Her original designs have been represented in a children’s card collection, art shows, and art galleries. JoDette married her husband Chris DiDomizio, owner/operator of a successful art school in Atlanta, DiDomizio’s Art Center, Inc. Jodette is an artist, art teacher, and director of the Children’s Art Program which encompasses ages six through high school. In 2010, she opened a non-profit organization “Art With a Mission, Inc.” which reaches out to orphans and needy families through art fundraisings. In 2019, her Konos visual arts team won seven awards in regional competition.

MARIELLE HERSEY (Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II)
M.A. Masters in Education from the University of Michigan and MBA from Baker University. A former engineer, technical training consultant, web designer, technical writer, and photography business owner, she left her career to stay home with her children and homeschooled them. A native of Switzerland, Marielle is fluent in four languages. She also tutors math classes at various locations.

RAY LEWIS (Critical Thinking)
Bachelor of Music Education, Baylor University; Master of Music (Conducting) from Samford University. Ray worked fifteen years as a music director and director of music ministries in churches and Christian schools. He also spent 25 years in avionics and quality fields with Delta Air Lines and Organizational Strategies. All three of the Lewis children were home-schooled by loving wife, Donna, and attended Konos Academy.

CASSIE MCGUIRE (Geometry and Pre-Calculus)
B.S. in Mathematics with an emphasis in Biology from the University of West Georgia.  Cassie has taught high school math in public school as well as serving as a math tutor for middle school through college level. She left her full-time teaching career to begin homeschooling her three children as her oldest child approached kindergarten. She loves to learn and enjoys encouraging high school students to be excited about the plans God has for their lives. cassie@konos.org

DR. JESSICA SHOCKEY (Biology and Chemistry)
Earned her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Pathobiology with an emphasis in Marine Biomedicine and Environmental Science from the Medical University of South Carolina (2008).  Dr. Shockey spent her undergraduate years at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia, majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry. She has taught a wide variety of courses, from beginning Latin to Biology to SAT/ACT prep.  jessica@konos.org

Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, both from the University of Georgia. She is a certified group fitness instructor and personal trainer. She has 20 years of homeschooling experience with her 4 children, two of whom work in healthcare, one in college, and the other attends Konos Academy. She has taught science, health and wellness classes at the elementary, high school, and collegiate level. She seeks to instill in her students a love for learning about God’s marvelous creation by making science interesting, applicable, and most of all, fun!  cheryl@konos.org

JAMIE WALKER (Geometry, Pre-Calculus and Computer Science)
B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech, A.S. in Chemistry from Waycross College.  Jamie has taught chemistry, computer science, and Bible to high school students in Coweta County or the last five years.  He also has 25+ years of computer-programming experience in the corporate world.  His passion, however, is declaring the gospel of Jesus Christ, and his love for teaching academics is fueled by a desire to direct His students to the God who designed the laws and principles that guide the physical universe.  Jamie and his wife, Lori, homeschooled their children — Micah, Jonas, and Joshua — through high school. The oldest two have graduated, and Joshua will be a junior in high school this upcoming school year.

Competitive Arts and Academics

MELODY BENSON (Arts and Academics Director)
Melody has a B.A. in Intercultural Ministries from Moody Bible Institute and an M.A. in Counseling from Colorado Christian University. She has served as a counselor in a variety of ministries and has served at Bryan College as a dean and counselor. She has homeschooled three children through Konos.  artsandacademics@konos.org

RAY LEWIS (Chorus)
Bachelor of Music Education, Baylor University; Master of Music [Conducting] from Samford University. Ray worked fifteen years as a music director and director of music ministries in churches and Christian schools back in the mid-seventies through the eighties. He then spent the next 25 years in avionics and quality fields with Delta Air Lines and Organizational Strategies, but continued to stay in music as the accompanist at Heritage Reformed Baptist Church for over twenty years before turning over the piano bench to Konos’s Kim Pollard. All three of the Lewis children were home-schooled by loving wife, Donna, and all three attended Konos before heading off to college. In addition to starting the Konos Chorus in 2018, Ray works part time as his church administrator.  ray@konos.org
